The exhibition presents the activity of the English artist Kevin Flynn, who has been based in Borgomaro for years, where he has established a fruitful contact with the nature of the places, but above all with their soul, through the recovery of everyday objects that are now in disuse or even treated as waste.
The artist gives these objects new life, recovering, through a new artistic vision, the testimony of a collective memory partly lost, but linked to the identity of Borgomaro and the whole of western Liguria.
Flynn uses recycled materials that assemble into new forms, almost archaic totems, in which the ancient function is enhanced by new forms taken by objects with unexpected conceptual implications.
Flynn’s work is fully part of the cultural climate of the New Dada which provides for the recovery and assembly of products abandoned by the company that exploited them and disowned them.
La mostra presenta l’attività dell’artista inglese Kevin Flynn, da anni insediato a Borgomaro, dove ha instaurato un proficuo contatto con la natura dei luoghi, ma soprattutto con la loro anima, attraverso il recupero di oggetti della vita quotidiana ormai in disuso o addirittura trattati come rifiuti.
L’artista conferisce a questi oggetti nuova vita, recuperando, attraverso una nuova visione artistica, la testimonianza di una memoria collettiva in parte perduta, ma legata all’identità di Borgomaro e dell’intera Liguria di Ponente.
Flynn si serve di materiali di recupero che assembla in forme nuove, quasi dei totem arcaici, in cui l’antica funzione viene esaltata da forme nuove assunte dagli oggetti con risvolti concettuali insperati.
L’opera di Flynn si inserisce a pieno titolo nel clima culturale del New Dada che prevede il recupero e montaggio di prodotti abbandonati dalla società che li ha sfruttati e disconosciuti.
